We are currently unsure where we will start, but we do know it will be one of the following three dependent on availability and cost to ferry from the south of England to France:
1) Dunkirk, France

Touring bikes!
These are special bikes that are a hybrid between a mountain bike and a road bike. They are made of chro-moly steel, so while heavier than other materials usually used for bike frames, they are stronger so can endure the weight of our luggage plus the rider.
They can also be welded together if they break in the middle of nowhere, rather than needing to be taken to a specialist shop for repairs. The bikes have a longer frame than on standard bikes, so the weight is distributed over a greater area.
The wheels are a hybrid between skinny road tires and fat mountain tires, so they can travel over multiple terrain types.
Nope! We're banking on the fact that we are young and relatively fit from our day to day lives, and have experience doing long trips away from home before. We trust ourselves to listen to our bodies as we become accustomed to the routine of cycling, slowly adding more distance each day.
The trip can be cycled in 4 weeks, if you were very speedy! However, we are hoping to enjoy ourselves, drink in the experiences along the way and aren't super keen to break our bodies.
We are accounting for the journey to take 2-3 months.
We expect the trip to be roughly 3500km/2180 miles.
We think it wouldn't be as fun as having our own bikes :)
So nice of you to consider helping us out with the journey, thank you so much!
The best thing would be to donate to either of our chosen charities which can be found in the 'Donate' tab of this blog.
Alternatively, if you would like to help us have some pocket money to support ourselves as we continue with our journey, you can support us through Patreon :)
